Anybody say, 'Zumba'!?

I know, it's been a while.

I have never confessed: I didn't renew my Boot Camp class nor did I keep up with the daily 1200 calories that I posted about long ago. Shoot, a girls gotta eat! Plus, last year I joined the gym and I was doing excellent until...yes, until the kids got out on Winter Break and I said, 'Gym?'. Fo-get about it!

I'm at it again. Trying to find something to keep me active and entertained. I took my first Zumba class today!

My position was towards the rear of the room. Heck, I didn't want any eyes on me- especially on my jello butt! There were times when I was like, 'Oh yeah! I've got this!' and times when I thought, 'Wtf? You must be joking!'

I was pleasantly surprised. All ages, sizes, experience- made me feel comfortable. And it is true what I'd heard, it is challenging but fun!

I'll be back zumba-ing tomorrow.

Dinosaurs in the Desert

Kids with Dinny.

You can walk inside. Her belly is a gift shop!

Dinny and Rex, the Cabazon Dinosaurs are much more popular these days than what I remember as a child.

Back then, it seemed the dinos sat in the middle of the desert all alone. Nothing around. Even as a child, I found it odd seeing these massive guys just standing there. What a sight!

If you look carefully, you can see Julia sitting on Rex's toe. Shows you how huge he is!

We got to climb in him and sit inside his mouth! I never did this as a kid- didn't even know you could!

It's been atleast 25 years since I was there last. And though it's still cool to see, it was hard not to notice that Dinny and Rex are now in company with a couple of fast food joints. There is also a museum which is overpriced and weird- I didn't expect all the religious creationism propaganda.

My kids loved it and the look in their eyes were much like mine when I was little.

This Chick is Going Down

I am behind on my domestic duties. My house is showing signs of neglect. The Casey Anthony Case has consumed me.

If I'm not watching on TRU, I'm watching it on HLN. If it's not 'live' then I've recorded it, and if I'm not in front of the TV, then sure as hell I'm watching it on-line at wftv.

Really. Really she is. She's going down.

SoCal Sky (6) & Issues

Getting really frustrated here. My computer really sucks so I avoid it as much as possible.

In the meantime, I thought I'd try the mobile feature here on blogger. No luck with it, my photos won't post.

This gorgeous SoCal Sky photo is way overdue. I witnessed it on March 30th.

SoCal Sky 5

Took this one with my iphone on Tuesday, 3/29.

The kids and I tripped out- the cloud in the middle looked like it was swirling. Little dude said it looked liked an alien ship.

Sad Garden

It's beginning to look a lot like Spring around here. The weather is changing. The mornings are no longer freezing and wet. It has made me step out into the yard a little more lately and access the damage of our SoCal Winter.

I would like to share, that this Winter was not a typical one. It got really cold. We had a snow fall which was a major excitement around here and a couple weeks ago, we had a hail storm.

So, back to the yard...what a mess.

My big planter box looks like shit. The sucky clay soil has hardened and I can barely get a hand shovel in it. My Eucalyptus tree that was just planted in September is dead. Another tree, (something flowering), dead. My pretty Wisteria vine that I bitched at my husband to train up the house, dead. The Ficus...yep, dead. And just to add a little more salt to my wound, the lawn on one side of the house is ugly with bare spots.

I've got lot's of work to do and I'm not too happy about it.

Best Chili. Ever.

I made this for Super Bowl Sunday and it was such a hit!

I've made it a few times before and it's absolutely the best chili I have ever had. No really, I'm serious. If you like chili, you need to try it. And if you like chili and end up not liking this one, then there is something wrong with you.

This is what you need:

1 pound ground turkey
2 cans low sodium tomato soup
1 can kidney beans, drained
1 can black beans, drained
1 can white cannellini beans, drained
1 can of corn, drained
1 can stewed diced tomatoes
1/2 onion, chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
1/2 tablespoon ground cumin
1 pinch ground black pepper
1 pinch ground allspice

This is what you do:

Brown the turkey in a skillet.

Lightly spray the inside of a slow cooker with cooking spray.

Dump the turkey along with all the other ingredients into the slow cooker and give it a little mix with a large spoon.

Cover and cook for atleast 7 hours on low.

I like to add chopped cilantro and a dollop of sour cream to my bowl! My brothers and nephews loved it on hotdogs.

So good.

Found it!

So I'm cleaning my 4 year old's room and in drawer, I come across his stash.

It may be small but yep, there it is along with toy cars, trains, plastic bugs, and vampire teeth. A few empty wrappers, some waiting to be eaten, and a lolli being saved for later.

Little sneak.

Placerita Canyon State Park

We spent a nice afternoon at Placerita Canyon Park
in Santa Clarita this weekend.

We hiked, saw an animal show, and had a picnic.

The place is great to wander around and explore.

The best part for me, was seeing the historic 'Oak of the Golden Dream'.
It's where gold was originally discovered in California.

I'll definitely be back for another hike, or maybe just when I need to feel a little closer to nature.

SoCal Sky (4)

I took this one yesterday evening. I just love the colors.
